Basic Suturing Skills Workshop
For Undergraduate Medical Students
Chennai, March 2026: Chennai Plastic Surgery conducted a Basic Suturing Skills Workshop for undergraduate medical students on 29 March 2026 (Sunday) at Chennai Plastic Surgery, Chetpet, Chennai. The workshop was designed to provide students with practical exposure to fundamental surgical skills and help build confidence before entering their internship and clinical practice.
The program introduced participants to the basic principles of wound closure, including understanding different approaches to wound management and the importance of proper tissue handling and closure techniques.
Students were given an opportunity to learn and practise basic suturing techniques while becoming familiar with commonly used suture materials and surgical instruments. The hands-on format allowed them to understand the practical aspects of suturing in a controlled learning environment.
A key focus of the workshop was hands-on practice using models and tissue simulators, enabling students to develop coordination, precision, and familiarity with basic surgical techniques under guidance.
The Basic Suturing Skills Workshop aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical surgical skills, giving undergraduate medical students a valuable foundation in wound closure and basic suturing before their internship. The program reflected Chennai Plastic Surgery’s commitment to supporting **early surgical education and practical skill development among future doctors.
Botulinum Toxin & Dermal Fillers – Live Demonstration Workshop
Chennai, August 2026: Chennai Plastic Surgery conducted the Botulinum Toxin & Dermal Fillers – Live Demonstration Workshop on 16 August 2026 at Chennai Plastic Surgery, Chetpet, Chennai. The workshop was led by Course Director Dr. Karthik Ramasamy and was designed exclusively for plastic surgeons seeking to strengthen their practical knowledge and skills in facial aesthetic procedures.
The workshop focused on the complete clinical approach to injectable aesthetics, beginning with patient assessment, facial analysis, understanding facial anatomy, identifying anatomical danger zones, and developing an appropriate treatment plan. The program emphasised the importance of individualised assessment and careful planning before any injection procedure.
A key highlight of the workshop was the live patient demonstration, covering both Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Filler procedures. Participants were able to observe the practical aspects of product selection, injection planning, technique, and execution in a real clinical setting, providing insights that go beyond conventional theoretical learning.
The interactive program also included real clinical case discussions, an engaging Q&A session, evidence-based clinical pearls, and practical tips from clinical experience. Special attention was given to safe injection practices and the avoidance and management of potential complications, reinforcing the importance of safety and anatomical understanding in facial aesthetics.

CHESTSCULPT™ – Advanced Male Chest Contouring Workshop
A Focused 2-Day Hands-On Training Program in Gynecomastia Surgery
CHESTSCULPT™ – Advanced Male Chest Contouring Workshop was conducted on 5th & 6th June 2026, Chennai, bringing together plastic surgeons for an intensive, focused training experience in the surgical management of gynecomastia and male chest contouring.
Designed for surgeons who want to go deeper than the basics, the two-day hands-on program focused on surgical planning, patient assessment, operative technique, chest anatomy, contouring principles, and surgical execution in gynecomastia.
The workshop was led by Course Director Dr. Karthik Ramasamy, Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon and Director of Chennai Plastic Surgery, with an emphasis on practical learning and applying advanced concepts to achieve safe, precise, and natural-looking male chest contours.
The program also featured Chief Guest Dr. Venkat Ramakrishnan, MS, FRCS, FRACS (Plastic Surgery), Senior Consultant – Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, whose presence added valuable expertise and perspective to the academic program.
Going Beyond the Basics
CHESTSCULPT™ was designed as more than a conventional lecture-based course. The hands-on format provided participating surgeons with an opportunity to understand the complete surgical approach to gynecomastia from assessment and planning to technique and execution.
The workshop highlighted the importance of understanding individual chest anatomy, selecting appropriate surgical techniques, managing glandular and fatty components, and creating a masculine chest contour while maintaining natural proportions.
Through focused academic discussions and practical training, the program aimed to equip surgeons with greater confidence and a deeper understanding of advanced male chest contouring and gynecomastia surgery.

Chennai Celebrates World Plastic Surgery Day with National High-Definition Liposuction Masterclass and Public Awareness Initiative
Chennai, July 2026: As part of the World Plastic Surgery Day (July 15) celebrations, a National High-Definition Liposuction Masterclass and public awareness initiative was successfully conducted at the auditorium of Spectra Medicals Private Limited, Chennai. The event brought together more than 100 plastic surgeons from across India for an academic program highlighting the latest advancements in aesthetic plastic surgery, high-definition liposuction, body contouring, liposculpture, and skin tightening.
The scientific program was inaugurated by Professor Dr. J. S. Radhakrishnan, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Stanley Medical College, Chennai and Dr. James Roy Kanjoor, Founder of Roys Cosmetic Surgery Centre, Coimbatore, as the Chief Guests. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Nishar, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Chennai Plastic Surgery.
The masterclass featured renowned faculty from across India:
- Dr. Monisha Kapoor (New Delhi) presented advanced concepts in 4D body sculpting, energy-based skin tightening, and techniques to achieve body contouring while reducing the need for extensive procedures in selected patients.
- Dr. Bibilash Babu (Kerala) delivered an in-depth session on the fundamentals of liposuction, different liposuction cannulas, surgical planning, and male high-definition body contouring, providing valuable practical insights for young plastic surgeons..
- Dr. Surindher D.S.A (Dubai/Bengaluru) shared his expertise and international experience in contemporary high-definition liposuction and advanced body sculpting techniques..
- Dr. Karishma Kagodu, Bengaluru, who delivered a comprehensive lecture on Feminine High-Definition Liposuction and shared her experience in advanced 4D VASER liposuction..
- Dr. Karthik Ramasamy, Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon and Director of Chennai Plastic Surgery, presented the latest concepts in high-definition liposuction, emphasizing surgical safety, precision body contouring, anatomical understanding, and achieving natural-looking aesthetic outcomes..
The event also served as a public awareness initiative to mark World Plastic Surgery Day, highlighting that plastic surgery extends far beyond cosmetic procedures. The faculty emphasized the vital role of plastic surgeons in reconstructive surgery, burn reconstruction, microsurgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, as well as cosmetic and aesthetic plastic surgery, helping patients restore function, appearance, and confidence.
