Chennai Plastic Surgery is preparing to host the second edition of Chest Sculpt, our focused surgical training program dedicated to gynecomastia surgery and male chest contouring.
Chest Sculpt 2.0 brings together plastic surgeons for an intensive learning experience combining live surgery, surgical planning, scientific discussions and supervised hands-on training.
For us, this program represents something important: sharing surgical experience, discussing the finer details that influence outcomes, and creating an opportunity for plastic surgeons to learn not only how a procedure is performed, but also why a particular surgical strategy is chosen for each patient.
Gynecomastia Surgery Is More Than Removing Gland and Fat
Gynecomastia is the enlargement of male breast tissue and can occur in different patterns and severities.
No two patients have exactly the same chest.
The amount and distribution of glandular tissue, surrounding fat, skin quality, asymmetry, position of the nipple-areola complex and underlying chest anatomy can all influence surgical planning.
Therefore, the goal of gynecomastia surgery is not simply to remove excess tissue.
The broader objective is to achieve a natural, proportionate male chest contour while minimising visible irregularities and preserving appropriate tissue support.
This philosophy forms the foundation of Chest Sculpt.
Three Live Gynecomastia Surgeries
The first part of Chest Sculpt 2.0 will feature three live gynecomastia surgical demonstrations led by Dr. Karthik Ram, Plastic Surgeon and Managing Director of Chennai Plastic Surgery.
Each case will begin with a discussion of:
- Clinical assessment
- Chest anatomy
- Preoperative markings
- Distribution of gland and fat
- Skin quality
- Surgical planning
- Liposuction strategy
- Gland management
- Chest contouring
- Prevention of contour irregularities
The objective is to allow participating surgeons to understand the entire decision-making process rather than observing only the operative steps.
From the Operating Theatre to Scientific Discussion
Following the live surgical demonstrations, the program will continue with scientific and interactive sessions at Spectra, Chennai.
The discussions will focus on practical aspects of gynecomastia surgery, including different clinical presentations, surgical techniques, chest definition, prevention of crater deformity and contour irregularities, complications, revision surgery and the management of challenging cases.
Real surgical situations and clinical decision-making will form an important part of these discussions.
Supervised Hands-On Surgical Training
One of the defining features of Chest Sculpt is its hands-on component.
During the subsequent training session, participating plastic surgeons will have the opportunity to gain practical surgical experience under direct supervision, with appropriate patient selection, informed consent and clinical safety protocols.
This progression from observation → discussion → planning → supervised surgical experience is designed to make the program clinically relevant for practicing plastic surgeons.
Learning Beyond the Lecture Hall
Surgical education also happens through conversation.
Chest Sculpt 2.0 therefore includes opportunities for participating surgeons and faculty to interact outside the formal operating theatre and lecture environment.
These discussions allow surgeons to exchange experiences, discuss difficult cases and complications, and explore how different surgeons approach the same clinical problem.
Building a Community Around Surgical Education
Chest Sculpt was created not simply as a one-time workshop, but as a platform for continued learning in gynecomastia surgery and male chest contouring.
Following the first edition, Chest Sculpt 2.0 continues this initiative with another focused group of plastic surgeons coming together in Chennai for intensive surgical education.
At Chennai Plastic Surgery, teaching fellow surgeons is also an opportunity for us to critically examine our own techniques, discuss outcomes and continue refining our approach.
Looking Forward to Chest Sculpt 2.0
Over the course of the program, participating surgeons will experience live surgical demonstrations, detailed case planning, scientific discussions and supervised practical training.
We look forward to welcoming the participating plastic surgeons to Chennai and to another weekend of surgery, learning, discussion and exchange of experience.
