Gynecomastia or male breasts develop in young boys during their teen age years. One way to avoid this embarrassing development is to watch what you eat and workout. Here is an introduction to what to do and how to do it, especially if you want to keep yourself fit and healthy. I know exercising can be the last thing on your mind if you are not athletically inclined. After all, you are growing taller and you find you can eat anything without putting on weight. Well, that is because your metabolism is at an all time high and your body is using up all the energy you are providing it to help you shoot up. Good for you. You still need to exercise – either in a gym or doing a structured workout outdoors so your body is able to cooperate with you and what your mind desires.

Studies show that younger people who exercise right – doing strength training and cardio in the proper way – have better body compositions without those embarrassing male breasts – than those who do not.

A lot of you reading this must think you are already all grown up and can make your own decisions. Well, congratulations! You can and I suspect most of you do already. Your senses are far more alert and different than those of someone born even a generation ago. However much you may disagree, you are not completely grown yet. Maybe in mind, but not yet in body. You need to take your training under proper guidance – maybe not constant supervision – unless you do want to get into some sort of sport, in which case you will need a specifically created workout programme.

Here’s a warning: sometimes, when you go to a gym, an unethical trainer could put you onto steroids or some other supplements that, according to him, would help you build muscle. The cause for Gynecomastia often rests in these supplements.

So what exactly do you need to do?

To begin with you need to develop a good musculoskeletal system. Translated it means you need to have strong muscles and bones. You need to exercise your body in progressive weight training. Your muscles and bones need to work against weights producing a force that encourages them to grow. As time goes by you will find yourself able to lift more weights and marked improvements in your muscle tone, skin tone and body shape. Of course, your hard work will make you feel good – both immediately (thanks to the endorphins exercise releases in your blood stream) and in the long run. The compliments will flow in, and the good feeling will show on your face, your confidence levels will soar.

For those of you who tend to be a little overweight – strength training is the way to get leaner. It helps burn calories during and after your workout. This is because of a higher sustained metabolic rate when you exercise.
