Botox is a protein processed from bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Interestingly, the neurotoxic effect of this protein is used in treating muscle spasm in adults and children. The same applies to treating wrinkles in aged skin. The tiny botox injections relaxes the overactive muscles and results in a smoothening of wrinkles.
Procedures
The procedure is extremely easy, quick and safe. It causes minimal tolerable pain. A minute amount of the diluted botox is injected with an extremely small needle in the targeted area. No sedatives or anesthesia are required for this day-care procedure.
Botox Erases or Reduces Visibility of:
Frown lines
Crows feet (lines around eyes)
Forehead lines
Neck skin bands
Eyebrow lift
Other disorders: Hyperhydrosis (sweating), muscle spasm, Cervical dystonia (spasmodic involuntary movement of neck )
For Lines
BOTOX FOR SMOKER’S LINE
Smoker’s lines are developed when the muscle around the mouth is active during puckering, like when you smoke a cigarette. However smoking is not the only time our muscles around the mouth make this movement. These lines around the mouth are formed the same way as the lines around the eyes and other areas of face. Simple and a more effective way to treat smoker’s lines is to get few units of BOTOX. Botox relaxes the muscles and fines out the prominent lines around the mouth. This can also be combined with a few sessions of radiofrequency therapy to remodel the collagen.
BOTOX FOR GUMMY SMILE
An attractive smile in this society is considered to add value in work place and social interactions. People who have excess gingival exposure are psychologically affected at times. Excessive exposure of gingiva (gums) is a condition due to hyperactivity of lip elevators. It is possible to correct excessive gingival display with BOTOX. BOTOX is a conservative therapy which lasts for 4 to 6 months.
BOTOX FOR BUNNY LINES
Bunny lines are oblique lines on both sides of the dorsum of the nose which usually appears when you give a broad smile and even frowning. Generally these lines exacerbate when aging. Conversely frequently injected BOTOX for crow’s feet and forehead may make the muscle more relaxed and the muscle on the sides of the nose may become hyperactive to cause prominent bunny lines.BOTOX decreases the crease formed by facial expression in turn making the wrinkle smooth and invisible.
For Nasal
BOTOX FOR NASAL FLUTTER AND NASAL PTOSIS
The nasal tip tends to fall down as we age due to gravity or due to hyperactivity of certain nasal muscles. Likewise alar flare is also becomes noticeable when nostrils are exaggerated due to facial actions and expressions. This can be easily corrected with a few units of BOTOX which lasts for about 4 to 5 months.
For Contouring
BOTOX FOR SHOULDER AND ARM CONTOURING
Thick and broad shoulders with masculine biceps are desirable for body builders, but for women who are desired to look like they have a contoured frame, BOTOX is a good option. BOTOX decreases the muscle volume and gives a thinner shoulder line and arm. Frequent injections are mandatory once in 6 months for about 3 to 4 sessions to achieve the desired results.
BOTOX FOR THIGH AND CALF MUSCLE CONTOURING
BOTOX is used widely for several purposes. Contouring thighs and the calf muscles gaining attention nowadays. Thigh and calf muscle hypertrophy in some who are former athletes is a common issue. Contouring thigh and calf muscles is achieved by a few units of BOTOX. Thigh muscles are high and so the doses are also comparatively high and the dosing should be decided depending upon the size of the muscle.

Botox used in cosmetic treatments is the trade name for a type of bacteria, Clostridium botulinum toxin. This protein, used in cosmetic medicine, can effectively treat mild to moderate lines and wrinkles. Cosmetic procedures use only a small amount of diluted botulinum that weaken facial muscles to remove the appearance of lines. Botox relaxes muscles by blocking nerve impulses. When the muscles can’t contract, the wrinkles and lines are less visible.
Botox is usually used to treat wrinkles on the forehead and crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes. Botox is most effective in treating the upper face.
Usually the side effects are very minimal. Most common side effects include pain on injection, minimal swelling, bruising which lasts for 1 to 2 days. Head aches, nausea and flu-like symptoms are other potential but rare side effects. If any unintentional injection of the muscles around eye or mouth occurs, it could cause an eyelid or the side of the mouth to droop. However, remember Botox injections are temporary and such side effects are temporary too. Eye drops can be made available to lessen the effects of temporary droop or simply left untreated.
If lines have already become etched into your skin, BOTOX will not help remove these lines but if they are only early (shallow) lines then BOTOX can help prevent them from getting worse if not slightly improve them over time with consistent usage.
The injections are very small and done with a tiny needle that usually does not cause discomfort. The pressure sensation associated with the injection goes away very quickly and patients can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
You can expect results only after 3 to 5 days. You will notice relaxed muscles and less visible lines. The results generally last for a period of 3 to 6 months. As the results are temporary, maintenance sessions are needed to continue having sustained results. The physician aims for an optimal result, where “optimal” means the patient’s choice. Few would prefer softening of lines, while some others prefer complete clearing of lines – like the cine stars who cannot afford to show lines in close-up shots. The dosage is administered accordingly. It is completely dependent on the patient’s choice and need.
